A Perfect Vermont Winter Wedding
During the summer, Vermont offers hiking, sailing and lots of other outdoor activities, but the winter is when the area really shines. This small northeastern state is a haven for winter sports enthusiasts. Visitors come from around the world to the small towns of Stowe and Killington, simply for the winter activities. If you love winter sports, consider hosting a winter wedding in Vermont.
Some of the more popular ski areas include Suicide Six, Jay Peak, Pico Mountain, Mad River Glen and Mount Snow. The best part of all is that most mountains include both beginner trails and advanced trails for those with more skills. Book a class for your wedding party as a gift for everyone involved. If your guests have little to no experience, then offer a free beginner`s lesson. During the lesson, the participants learn the fundamentals of skiing and how to make it down the trail.
Even if you prefer another type of outdoor activity, Vermont has you covered. Cross-country skiing lets you see the gorgeous views of the mountains without sliding down the trail. Backcountry skiing is for the more adventurous, as you are left on your own in a small group. The trails wind deep through the woods on the mountain and typically involve an overnight stay.
Alternatively, try something more relaxing. Many resorts rent snowmobiles and have ice-skating rinks. If you prefer indoor activities, relax in the lodge with a cup of hot chocolate. Treat your guests to board game contests in front of a roaring fireplace.
When you host a Vermont winter wedding, take advantage of the seasonal offerings. Warm pumpkin soup, mashed or baked sweet potatoes and cornbread stuffed turkey and chicken are just a few food choices available. A pumpkin roll wedding cake completes the event.
Arrive at your wedding in a carriage pulled by horses. Treat your guests to warm cups of apple cider, hot chocolate, or even spiced rum. The drinks help warm up guests, whether they walk through the snow to the ceremony or need a pick me up for an outdoor wedding.
Imagine standing with your soon-to-be spouse in front of breathtaking mountain views as you exchange vows. The ice and snow on the mountain serves as the perfect backdrop for your ceremony. The photos you take create amazing Christmas cards. Use the photos as the front image on your cards and send the finished product to friends and family around the world. The cards let guests that did not attend the wedding feel as if they were a part of the ceremony.
